The benefits of using online videos
April 28th | 2009 By
According to a recent study by the Online Publishers Association, it was discovered that 69% of internet users have viewed a video online, and 24% of those view a video online at least once a week. This study proves that the ability to access free online videos, or to download online videos, has quickly become the newest craze in internet marketing.
Online videos not only promote personal interaction between a company and their online audience, but they also grasp a reader’s attention much longer than a page full of text.
Online videos can be used for entertainment, they can be instructional or they can be used to promote your company. For OTOnetworks, placing free online videos on our Green Student U and Grad Power websites has been a great way to supplement the content in our websites.
Here are a few examples:
Green Student U – To highlight innovative inventions in renewable energy we recently posted a blog titled Solar powered oven wins first prize in climate competition. Here’s the accompanying online video:
Grad Power – We recently incorporated a free online video in a blog post titled U.S. News and World Report’s Best Healthy Places to Retire. This video supplements the Grad Power section on City Profiles and the Best Cities to Work. Want to know the #1 best city for retirement?
Using online videos on your website is a creative and fun way to increase your website traffic and to keep readers coming back for more information. If you’re a company that is selling a certain product, online videos are also a great way to promote your products.
But just like any other content on your website, make sure that when you incorporate a video on your website that you use strong keywords and title tags to increase your natural search efforts.
